The Practice

Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient system of Yoga that was passed down to our teacher Sri K. Pattabhi Jois during his time of study with his teacher, Sri T. Krishnamacharya, one of the most distinguished yogis of the 20th Century.

This method of yoga practice consists of a dynamic sequence of postures that are linked together through the breath.  This process creates an intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies the muscles and organs of the body .  This helps us with keeping a balanced, relaxed body and a clear mind.  Commitment to this method of practice will help to expand self understanding, physically, mentally, and emotionally and allows us to connect to a state of health that permeates all aspects of being.

Mysore Method

The Mysore method is taught within a group setting, with the individual, teacher student relationship being a strong focus. The Mysore approach allows each student to practice at their own pace and to progress, based on their unique physical, mental/emotional, and energetic needs and abilities. And yet the student can feel and sense the support and energy of the group, as a whole. The Mysore method helps to foster a sense of independence, empowering the student to take responsibility for their own practice and growth, ultimately tapping into deeper parts of themselves and growing Self understanding.

This method of practice is for all levels; experienced practitioners, those new to Ashtanga Yoga, and those brand new to yoga.
